Melissa Mackedon serves as the Executive Director of the Nevada State Public Charter School Authority (SPCSA), the state’s sole charter school authorizer and its second largest Local Education Agency (LEA), supporting approximately 70,000 students. In this role, she leads the oversight and authorization of charter schools across Nevada. A founding team member and longtime CEO of Oasis Academy—a high-performing rural charter school—Melissa guided the school for 12 years. She also spent 12 years on the SPCSA Board, including four years as chair, and previously served as both board member and chair of the Charter School Association of Nevada. Melissa began her career in the classroom, teaching in both general and special education settings, and has contributed her expertise on various state and local education committees. She lives in Fallon, Nevada, with her husband, Gib, and their two children, Fenn and Hazel. In her free time, she enjoys baking sourdough bread, reading, traveling, and cheering on her kids at sporting events.
