Maria Bennett

Director of Technology, Scott County Schools
United States
Maria Bennett began her career as an elementary classroom teacher, driven by a passion for innovative instruction and personalized learning. As she advanced into leadership roles—first as an assistant principal and later as a school principal—she championed schoolwide transformations in Math and ELA, implementing tiered, individualized programs that met students’ diverse needs. Now serving as the Director of Technology for Scott County Schools (KY), Bennett has spearheaded the district’s sustainable 1:1 initiative and established Digital Learning Coaches to enhance blended learning practices. Her work in integrating AI and digital learning is not just about student success—it’s about creating a culture where educators feel confident embracing innovation, leading change, and shaping the future of education. As a woman in leadership, Bennett is dedicated to empowering and mentoring others who aspire to lead. She actively supports women in education by fostering professional growth opportunities and advocating for inclusive leadership, while also continuously learning from and being inspired by other women in leadership. Through her leadership, she strives to break barriers, cultivate a network of strong women leaders, and inspire others to take bold steps in their own leadership journeys.
