District Administration’s Leadhership Network and ALAS Launch Major Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C.
West Palm Beach, FL (Aug 18, 2025) – In a significant move to amplify the voices of Latino superintendents, women educational leaders, and equity advocates, the District
Administration’s Leadhership Network for Women and the Association of Latino
Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) are jointly announcing a pivotal Advocacy
Day in Washington, D.C.
Scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, 2025, during the annual Leadhership Network
for Women conference, the event aims to secure crucial federal support and funding for
vital educational programs that benefit all students. The advocacy effort will bring
diverse leaders into direct dialogue with Congress on pressing issues such as equitable
school funding, the educator pipeline, student mental health, digital access, and
multilingual learner support.
“Our advocacy efforts are about more than policy; it’s about possibility,” said Amy Dujon,
Vice President of Education at CommunityEDU, the organization powering Leadhership.
“Women and Latino leaders are uniting to champion equity, advance our profession, and
ensure every student, regardless of background, accesses a quality education.”
Following Advocacy Day, participants are invited to attend the three-day Leadhership
Network for Women conference, from September 24–26, 2025, in Washington, DC.
This energizing gathering offers professional development, networking, and communitybuilding
opportunities through inspiring speakers, collaborative workshops, and an
empowering network of women leaders in K–12 education.
“This moment is about collective leadership. Education leaders of color and women are
coming together to shape policies that serve our communities. Our presence on Capitol
Hill is vital for fostering a more equitable, impactful education for all,” said Ulysses "Uly"
Navarrete, Executive Director, ALAS.
Participation in Advocacy Day is open to all K–12 education professionals. To become
involved, interested individuals are encouraged to submit a request to participate at

About the Association of Latino Administrators & Superintendents (ALAS)
The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents [ALAS] is committed to providing a
perspective to all aspiring school and district administrators, including superintendents, through programs,
services, advocacy, and networks rooted in Latino experiences and culture. Our Vision, Mission, and Goals
are to provide leadership at the national level that assures every school in America effectively serves the
educational needs of all students with an emphasis on Latino and other historically marginalized youth
through continuous professional learning, policy advocacy, and networking to share practices of promise
for our students and the communities where we serve.
By the year 2026, Latino children will make up 30 percent of the school-age population. In the nation’s
largest states – California, Texas, Florida, and New York – all of whom are ALAS State Affiliates – Latinos
already have reached that level. It is of vital interest to invest in the education of every child, and the
